Easy Steps To Self-Publishing

  1. Contact us with a brief summary of your book's content. Because our company's focus is on educational materials, we'll assess if we are indeed your best option for self-publishing. We may suggest alternatives for your project if it does not fit our educational focus.

  2. Once we have assessed your project we'll ask you to send us your manuscript. You can send it in typed or word-processed hard copy (preferably printed on a laser printer) with indications where photos, maps, etc. will be, or on computer disk(s) in standard formats. We can receive materials by mail or courier, or you can send your computer file(s) to our secure FTP site on the Internet.

  3. We carefully read through your manuscript. If you have not chosen a format, we will offer suggestions, sketch out sample pages for you and draw up a contract that lists all price details. With your return of the signed contract authorizing work to begin, however, we require 33% of the total cost.

  4. We edit, design, and typeset your work in close consultation with you.

  5. Page proofs and a proof of the cover design are sent for your approval. You return the proofs with your comments and a second installment of 33% of the total cost.

  6. We make any final changes. Complete sample copies (excluding binding) are shipped to you for approval. The final installment of 34% of the cost is due at this approval stage.

  7. Upon receipt of final payment, the remaining books are printed, bound, finished and shipped.

GF Murray Company can store your book in digital form. Our on-site digital storage means you'll reduce your storage space requirements for finished books and you enjoy access to just-in-time revisions and reprints. This allows you to reorder copies of your finished book in manageable quantities you can store easily and sell predictably. There is no need to tie up your money in unsold books.

GF Murray maintains a database of book abstracts posted by our self-publishing customers at our World Wide Web site. Prospective book buyers from all over the world can browse the abstracts for books they might like to purchase.
